This is a template policy provided with the site build. Before launch, have it reviewed and finalized by qualified legal counsel for your jurisdiction (including COPPA and any applicable state privacy laws).
1. Consent is required to feature an athlete
ICON Cheer does not publish a profile, spotlight, or photo of an identifiable athlete who is a minor without a parent or legal guardian’s consent and a signed media release on file. This is enforced in our editorial system: an athlete record cannot be published until consent is confirmed.
2. Nominations
Anyone nominating an athlete through our nomination form must confirm they have parent/guardian consent (or are the parent/guardian) and agree to this policy. A nomination is a request only — it never results in automatic publication. Our editorial team reviews every submission.
3. What a media release covers
- Permission to publish the athlete’s name, image, likeness, and biographical details on ICON Cheer platforms.
- Use of submitted or licensed photography and video for editorial and promotional purposes.
- The right to decline, edit, or remove any content at our discretion.
4. Minimal data collection
We collect only what we need to feature an athlete and contact the responsible adult. We do not knowingly collect more personal information from minors than necessary, and we never sell personal data.
5. Withdrawing consent & removals
Consent can be withdrawn at any time. Athletes, parents, or guardians may request removal of any content through our contact form (choose “Takedown / removal request”). We honor verified requests promptly.
6. Results & footage rights
Competition results and routine footage may be subject to rights held by event producers or others. We publish only what we are permitted to share, and we welcome corrections.
